Everybody's favorite superhero from hell may be back on the big screen by next year. Todd McFarlane gave the fans of his greatest creation, Spawn, an update on what the hell spawn has been up to . McFarlane has a goal of shooting the film by next year according to an interview with the entertainment magazine, The Gate. In fact, he is being pressured to complete the script for the film by the end of this year. McFarlane has quite the task in front of him since he is not only writing the script, but also producing and directing. As for the question of whether this movie is going to be a sequel to the 1997 "Spawn" starring Michael Jai White, McFarlane has confirmed that this will be a reboot. He has stated that his version would put Spawn in a supporting role. Past rumors have put the unusual cop duo from the comic book, Sam and Twitch, in the spotlight. As for who would be playing the man under Spawn's mask, McFarlane has stated that there have been big names being thrown around the office to play the role. Jamie Foxx, according to McFarlane, has been calling him every few weeks to ask about the script. This was further confirmed when Foxx said he was "aggressively pursing" the role during a Comic-Con interview. A big name means a big budget, right? Not according to McFarlane. His plan is to get the shoot done as soon as possible, and start off with a low budget. "It is going to be more of a horror movie and a thriller movie, not a superhero one," according to McFarlane. Unfortunately all of this is just a pipe dream until the script is done. "Once we get this thing done, we'll get it off the ground with some big names," he said. Until then all we can do is hope and pray, as ironic as that is, that we will see the leader of hell's army on a movie screen within the next year or so. |
