Recently, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that the prequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Origins, will have an online multiplayer game mode. Developed by Splash Damage (Brink, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars), Invisible Predator Online will pit the Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin against a group of Joker’s and Bane’s elite gang members. Online multiplayer will be a 2 vs. 3 vs. 3 mode, with Batman and Robin and two player-controlled teams of Joker’s and Bane’s Gang Elite led by none other than Joker and Bane themselves. These are not average thugs however, as each henchmen to either gang has their own unique gadget that can be used against Batman and Robin or the opposing gang. When playing a game online for a while, Bane and Joker become playable characters as well. Gameplay can be tricky as the two opposing gangs have to use their gadgets and also firefight their way to capture control points on the map so that players can spawn to, while wasting away the opposing teams re-spawn limit. When either team reaches zero, then that team loses. Many, by now, are wondering how Batman and Robin mix to this equation. Batman and Robin must use there stealth and gadgets to capture and subdue priority targets (like gang captains), which would cause either Joker or Bane to end the game while maintaining a number of lives before the game is finished. Should Batman and Robin die one too many times, then the Dynamic Duo loses leaving both teams to cause chaos. Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment is encouraging the gamers and Batman fans to try it out for themselves. The invite is currently being sent out by email for PS3 and Xbox 360 users to register for the closed beta and are being admitted by a first come first serve basis. So if you’re a gamer, like us, or just a Batman fan who happens to own an Xbox or PS3, and you’re lucky enough to get an email, try it out and let us know what you think of it on the comment section. |
