Reports are circulating the web claiming that China is considering overturning this long-time ban as long as one condition is met: Foreign companies like Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony will have to manufacture their products in a new free trade zone located in Shanghai. All of this is still under specualtion since there are a number of things that need to get done before the move can become official. See, in the year 2000, seven ministries decided to approve this ban because it was believed that video games produced violent and unhealthy content which could effect the country's youth. Granted, young people can be influenced very easily by just about anything so there is some truth to this but it's nice to know that they are giving everyone, including their young generation, a chance to prove this wrong as well as benefit from the lift on this ban in a financial way as well. This could actually be a win-win situation for all.
