By now, many are aware that Pikmin 3 is so close to it's release date (August 4th) we can just taste it! It is one of the most anticipated games to release on the Wii U this year. At San Diego's Comic-Con 2013, two hosts were showing fans some new Pikmin 3 gameplay and new additions of Pikmin as well. Never heard of Pikmin? Here is a brief explanation about what the purpose of these little creatures is: "You play as members of a group of intergalactic explorers, scattered across an alien planet as a result of their spaceship's crash landing. Your overarching task is to regroup, forage for sustenance-giving fruit and gather together the various pieces of space junk needed to flee the planet. The indigenous Pikmin aid you in these quests as you fling them towards obstacles or enemies, which, in sufficient numbers, they will vanquish. On your side of the symbiotic bargain you must protect them during the day and ensure you marshal every last creature back into the spaceship before sundown. Fail to do so and any Pikmin left behind are devoured by the night time predators in a harrowing cut-scene that belies the game's otherwise sugary presentation." - Simon Parkin, guardian.co.uk Gameplay is not as structured as most games which, in my opinion, makes it more fun. There is no set way of playing, no point A to point B but rather, you can play at the pace you choose. Although, you must keep in mind that there is a time limit for daylight hours within the game in which you must do your best to collect food and discover lost human technology from the past plus more. I love the fact that the game focuses more on exploration than simply beating it. The characteristics of each breed of Pikmin also makes it much more entertaining (and adorable) for the player. I'm not sure about you but I would love to get my hands on this game and find out what is behind all the hype.
