By Paul Iuzzolino 09/14/13 CW has been currently searching for an actor for the part of Barry Allen on the hit TV series Arrow for the upcoming season. Now it appears that their search has ended, with actor Grant Gustin taking the role. Best known for his role on Glee, the twenty-three year old comes as a surprising choice, especially considering his young age. It also comes as a surprise based on Barry Allen being described as a forensic scientist. Barry Allen is scheduled to appear in episodes 8 and 9 of Arrow: Season 2. He will then make his return in episode 20. Barry Allen will be incorporated into the story of Arrow, and this will then serve as a pilot for a possible spinoff about the character. This is how CW and Warner Brothers TV plan to use Barry Allen in Arrow: BARRY ALLEN is a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.1 Gustin recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he is really excited to land this role, and he has been a fan of DC comics for a long time. He also stated that he was honored to receive the role, and can't wait to start shooting. Barry Allen will start out as a forensic scientist and gain his abilities later on. Shooting for Gustin's appearance will start at the end of the month in Vancouver. Arrow fans will be able to see Arrow: Season 2 on October 9th at 8 p.m. ET/PT |
