By Paul Iuzzolino 8/29/13 Madden has always been one of the best selling football games on the market. Electronic Arts does a fantastic job of making authentic and realistic football games. They now continue that mission by celebrating 25 years of Madden games with Madden NFL 25. This game features a loading screen museum of all the Madden games, so at least players can look at previous Madden games while they wait to play their game. As you play the game, you will notice similar gameplay features from Madden 13, such as orchestra scores, streamline menus, and making the game feel like a real NFL broadcast. The animations are really nice, especially when your players on the bench get excited when you gain yards. The weather elements look astonishing; the snow really looks like it is stuck to the ground. Also you could see tracks on the ground as your players run through the field. The infinity engine that runs this game has gone through some tuning up, greatly increasing the tackling and running throughout gameplay. You will still be able to feel the hard hits and crashes when you get tackled, but without having any broken limbs and bad tripping that was seen in Madden 13. Also, in this game, you will clearly notice when the ball gets fumbled. Twitter is involved too with this game, with a fantasy stream of the entire league. When you score a touchdown, similar animations will play that were seen from previous Madden games. The developers could have done a better job of doing newer and fresh animations of touchdowns. The familiar voices of Phil Simms and Jim Nantz appear as commentators, and offer fun and exciting commentary throughout each game. It's just a shame that you hear the same commentary so often, and at times it seems rather weak. As far as gameplay, the developers focused on running and a feature called precision modifier. The spins and dives make your player a certifiable gorilla on the field. Charging into the end zone and using the right stick on the Xbox 360 are by far the best gameplay experiences in Madden NFL 25. As the quarterback, you have the ability to use a ability called pistol option and run shot plays. A changed feature that was called connected career in previous games is now called connect franchise, with a familiar feature called owner mode. This mode allows you to take control of the entire franchise. You could control features such as concessions stands, ticket prices, and merchandise. If you want to upgrade or build a new stadium, these options are also available in owner mode. So you could for example take the Buffalo Bills to Mexico and rename them the Golden Eagles. After you create this new team, be sure to win more games then lose, or else you fans will voice their opinions. The changes in Madden NFL 25 are pretty incremental to the game, but some aspects are not presented that well, especially since this is an anniversary edition. The physics are greatly improved though, and the new running moves work well during gameplay, so these new features still make this game superior to the rest of the Madden games. |
