By Paul Iuzzolino 09/14/13 A lot of talk has been happening about Star Wars: Episode VII, and now rumors are being heard about the upcoming Lucas film’s planned Star Wars Spinoffs. Earlier this year, we found out that Simon Kinberg and Lawrence Kasdan are currently making standalone Star Wars movies that will be released in between Episodes VII, VII, and XI. Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release in 2016. Boba Fett, Han Solo, and Yoda are characters that could appear in these films. Disney CFO Jay Rasulo stated at a Disney investor conference that these Star Wars films will not be “Spinoffs,” or “standalone movies,” but rather “original story films.” Original stories were to be expected if the rumors from February were to be believed.1 Also the fact that a legitimate Disney executive characterized these films as original stories defiantly provides some creditably to these reports. The earlier beginnings of Han Solo and Yoda have not really been seen yet in movies or in TV, so original stories is a strong possibility. Star Wars fans pretty much know about Boba Fett from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, you find out even more about Boba Fett. In the end, it is really up to Kinberg and Kasdan if they decide to go down this route. According to Variety, Disney had been looking for a young actor to play a younger Han Solo for several months. Also, it would be nice to see Han Solo and Chewbacca in their Pre-Rebel Alliance days, when they were making a living as smugglers and setting records on the Kessel Run.1 So for now, this is what is known about these Star Wars Spinoffs; it will be very interesting to see what Disney does in the end. |
